Alion is actively seeking a mid-level cybersecurity professional with relevant experience pertaining to cybersecurity processes, policies, procedures and engineering principles to support the COLUMBIA Class submarine acquisition program.  The majority of the support will be provided onsite at the Washington Navy Yard.  Submarine veterans are encouraged to apply.  The candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Provide direct support to the PMS397 Cybersecurity System Integration Team (SIT) Lead in efforts to complete the design and integration of various submarine systems.
  • Maintain familiarity with Navy and/or Industry Standard Cybersecurity requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise in cybersecurity engineering as it relates to design, deployment, integration, testing and implementation on/for Navy systems.
  • Facilitate timely decisions in the review and adjudication of all design products and written correspondence by the appropriate NAVSEA technical stakeholders, Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), UK, NAVY Field Activities in accordance with ship specifications to meet commitment completion dates.
  • Interface with stakeholders to generate letters and packages for official release. 
  • Establish and manage cybersecurity commitments.  Track and report status of commitments.  Attend weekly commitment meetings and other applicable meetings required to support Cybersecurity SIT Lead.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Active SECRET clearance (no exceptions).
  • Degree in computer science degree or related field is preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of related technical experience is preferred.
  • Prior NAVSEA and Team Sub experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Navy and/or Industry Standard Cybersecurity requirements.
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of NAVY shipboard and submarine systems.
  • Familiarity with the DOD acquisition system and acquisition programs.
  • The ability to effectively use the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to understand and succinctly summarize, communicate, and document technical issues and effectively draft, review and approve correspondence.
  • Be articulate in oral and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.  
  • Must be a self-starter, possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work directly with various government and contractor representatives to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Superb customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Travel about once per month to Groton/New London, CT.
