Job Description


We're looking for a program manager to lead various ISR processor and processing  projects with hardware deliverables, specifically those with system security requirements.  Typical programs involve development and or integration of a processor and its security including hardware, software and firmware development, integration, test and deployment .  Candidates should have taken a pprocesor or somethign similar from requirements through release as either a PM or lead engineer.  Candidate will be both inward and outward focused working with internal resources, customers and partner companies.  Ideally, this position develops and maintains the roadmap and strategy for the domain.  Position requires knowledge of contractural responsibilities like schedules and deliverables and ability to lead a team through listening and decision making.

Basic overview & responsibiltiies:

Manages an established development program for major component or a total small system, or production or logistics program for several components or medium systems.  The program serves a single customer and requires coordination of program requirements across planning stages with several subcontractors.   Program is contained at a single domestic location.  Multiple business functions are represented by the employees assigned to the program. Program involves established technologies that require the application of advanced principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.  Requires coordination of technologies across program requirements.  Long-range financial forecast is for moderate future growth represented in discrete products or components that include derivative technologies (exclude follow-on business).  Long-range forecast is projected to continue five or more years.

Responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of the company on assigned program from inception through completion.  Manages technical and administrative staff and provides ongoing direction in the performance of the assigned program.

Develops and monitors program plan including time and cost estimates.  Ensures project outputs are delivered on schedule and within funding.

Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to program plan and schedule, identifies program problems, and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.

Prioritizes workload and determines staffing levels and any adjustments in staffing.  Maintains a staffing level to ensure technical quality and appropriate experience levels are consistent with current and projected project activities.

Reviews reports and briefings prepared by technical staff for quality.

Leads technical discussions for project reviews.  Prepares and delivers formal briefings.

Ensures that appropriate training is delivered to program staff.

Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customer and other outside agencies.

Acts as primary customer contact for program activities.  Regularly meets with and updates the customer on project status.  Leads program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. 

Develops new business or expands business with the customer.  Coordinates preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract.  Participates in negotiating contract and contract changes.

Complies with quality assurance and security procedures in the performance of duties.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Leadership and management skills as evidenced by previous work experience.

Strong customer service orientation.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.

Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience in industry is a minimum requirement.  Preference will be given to candidates who have a bachelors in elcetronics or computer engineering and also candidates who have demonstrated similar management experience in this industry.
